Transitions and Pathways are highly valued at Westall Secondary College. Students are well supported in transitioning from primary to secondary school and from one year level to another. Dedicated facilities for the Year 7 cohort create a safe environment for the younger students who enrol at the College. A transition coordinator ensures the smooth transition of students into Year 7. Course counselling and ongoing support through targeted programs assists students in making the best choices for their life long career journeys. This comprehensive program includes:
All Year 10 students participate in a Careers program to assist them in exploring and understanding issues related to pathways and employment. The study is complimented by one week of work experience. This is an excellent opportunity for students to further explore their interests and aspirations.
Managed Individual Pathways
Managed Individual Pathways (MIPS) plans enable students to explore and consider options and requirements for Tertiary study, apprenticeships and transition to employment beyond secondary schooling. At Westall Secondary College students have the option to undertake VCE, VET and VCAL Programs. Student aspirations, aptitudes and interests are used to form a basis for their future career goals.
